Patient Suffering from Migraines More Predisposed To Be Depressed
Man suffering from headache, in particular migraine disorder, are more inclined to suffer from depression, feel fatigued, and have a host of other severe physical symptoms, according to a clinical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical study involved 1050 patients who buy citalopram online at headache clinics in nine different countries. Of the patients tested, 112 reported occasional headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 332 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were tested with migraines.
The medical research found patient with chronic headache were four times more likely than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also five times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among patients tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical trial found the likelihood of major Atypical Depression increased 32-fold if the people also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms should provoke or be a manifestation of major Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Psychotic Depression will heighten pain perception,” said medical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Atypical Depression suggests a usual neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Regardless of what’s causing the link between migraine and Major Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Manic Depression complicates headache management and can arouse poorer results for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The clinical research was supported, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American patients are affected by headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 12000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to bettering man care through enlightenment and medical investigation. A neurologist is a surgeon with a wide knowladge of monitoring, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and repeated sclerosis.
